I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was surprised by the negative reception of the convention from journalists. I don't think there's enough credit given for how much more this convention is speaking to the public instead of just talking to convention goers.

@Janie Dusenberry If the people you're talking to are Bernie supporters and admirers, I'd consider pointing out that Bernie is a man of integrity -- likely one of the reasons they admire him -- and it's a little demeaning to suggest he could be taken "hostage." Depending on your relationship with each person, you should probably take a more diplomatic, less patronizing tone, but that's the general idea.

I think it's been a hit so far. The new format has created a lot of content that is easily shareable with non-diehards who aren't watching. The speakers have been dynamic and all have had parts that have created buzz. Hard to think it's been anything but a success so far. Need Biden to bring it home with a strong speech tonight!

If one of their primary objectives is increasing enthusiasm, spiting the activist and progressive wing of the partying by featuring repugnant billionaires and war criminals is a strange choice.
