Iā€™m feeling so fired up by this election even though it was not the landslide we wanted/morally should have gotten.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for guiding us through this and giving us communication tools throughout this election! It has helped me not be so anxious and allowed me to become a resource for political answers for friends who are freaked out. šŸ™šŸ¼

Thank you, Dan. I needed to read this today.

You ask a lot of us Dan...but alright.

The shock around the world this morning was like nothing I've seen before. Worse than 2016 because of the sense that the US might be lost. Much of this came because they saw |Dems acting as if they had lost. This took hours to turn around and did because of WI and MI.

Dan is 100% wrong. Both the American people and the electoral college have (crossed fingers and a quick prayer to St Anthony) rejected Trump.

Garry Kasparov is very good at summing up why things matter, and it was great to see the following tweet from him:

In case you need more good news about the likely Biden win, Russian state TV is in mourning today. Now shifting to saying that democracy is just chaos, and Russia is lucky not to have to deal with such things thanks to Putin!

So, thank you. Please remind the national D's to "steel their spines" as is obviously needed, because we cannot let that dumpster fire's fascist leanings spread into the mainstream narrative. He (and the polls) have damaged us to the point that we cannot accept a legally won victory even when it is all but assured. (Math is hard.)

I understand the despair that many feel regarding the lack of the landslide because that is the moral result we so badly needed. We needed to feel better about ourselves as a country. The truth is yes, Joe Biden earned more votes than any other presidential candidate in our history. The other grosser truth, is that the orange disaster also earned almost 50% of the votes of our fellow Americans.

We white people have a lot of work to do to figure out where we stand in the march towards justice. Many of us are selfish, cowardly, and consumed by our whiteness because it is not blackness. The march will continue. Will we place landmines in front of our fellow human beings as they work for dignity? Or will we run with them as the pace picks up? I know where I stand. I know where Joe stands. Many people have some more thinking to do, and quickly.

Agree wholeheartedly. Not that's it's easy, and family and friends need to be constantly reminded. And it's really hard not to despair of the uncounted ballots, thanks to USPS, etc.

It's not just us--we need the media to stay focused on the business at hand and not be distracted by his rants. Some are just replaying clips of his statements last night. But I loved the CNN chyron, "Trump says he'll go to Supreme Court; unclear why."

Still, Dems have a lot to unpack from the results--and get started on the 2022 Senate elections.

A giant fucking deal...I think that saying would make for some great Pod Save America merch! Seriously, thank you for your calming message. I've been up since 2 constantly refreshing Twitter, etc. Ok. I know that's not the best way to spend a sleepless night but I kept hoping for a giant victory and well here we are close to a victory but not the landslide we had all envisioned. Truly mind boggling that after almost 4 years of trump and the GOP that has aided and abetted him, people would still want this guy or any of his enablers. Thanks for all you do to inform! Time for a nap.

Confidence, patience, fortitude, and undying belief in the process.

Thank you Dan! Here's my question. If Biden wins, but the Republicans retain a slim majority in the Senate (no idea if I'm supposed to be capitalizing these words) will moderate Republican senators be more likely to vote with Democrats, because they will no longer be bullied by Trump from the WH?

Could not love this more. After an exhilarating and exhausting day working at the polls all day yesterday and being reminded (and thrilled) by each in-person vote and each absentee ballot that every vote counts, I've been freaking out ever since I got home last night at 9:30. Indeed a GFD.

"The proper approach to the tumult of the next few days it to adopt the patient confidence of Joe Biden." Gonna need a "hell yeah" button in response to this.

Thank you for this message. It is exactly what I needed after waking up feeling defeated. While it is sad that our country is this divided, I am up for the long game.

I am so tired of how Democrats are criticized regardless of what we do. Even if we win, we are criticized for not winning correctly. You will win but, you will be weak because you did not win the Cuban American vote. Clearly your strategy FAILED. You'd better fix that if you want to succeed. You will win the EC and the popular vote. You will defeat an incumbent President which has not happened in 30 years. You will win the WH in an election with the highest voter participation in the history of this country but, you will be weak because you FAILED to win a majority in the Senate. Yes you will win, but you dare not feel good about it. ENOUGH FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan--I've been wondering how pollsters gather information when so many people do not answer calls from unknown numbers. I got approximately one answer out of a hundred when phone banking for AZ. I know Biden's winning, and while worried/not panicked, it seems that Senate races polls indicated were within reach were not. The predictions seem to indicate whatever methods are being used are not very accurate.

Thank you, Dan. Watching from Australia with hope and conviction. I spent many an hour in contact with friends, and friends with family in the US, I gave them all the vote save america information, and told them to spread it around.

I have faith that America will get through this.
